LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this session participants will:

  1. Understand the risk of VTE in medical inpatients and the goals of therapy
  2. Understand how VTE is identified in clinical trials of VTE prophylaxis
  3. Understand the evidence used to justify VTE prophylaxis as an Accreditation Canada Required Organizational Practice
  4. Understand the limitations of the aformentioned evidence.
