About the topic: Meta-analysis and meta-regression are often highly cited and may influence practice. Unfortunately, statistical errors in meta-analyses are widespread and can lead to flawed conclusions. The purpose of this presentation is to review common statistical errors in meta-analyses and to document their frequency in highly cited meta-analyses from strength and conditioning research. Examples of errors (and solutions) in areas of particular interest in sport science will be presented and discussed.

About the speaker: Dr. Daniel Kadlec completed a PhD in Sports Science in 2022 sponsored by VALD Performance in collaboration with Edith Cowan University, while he is the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Claremont WFC and is working at the Western Australian Institute of Sport. He completed his MSc in Strength & Conditioning at St Mary’s University Twickenham while concluding his sports physiotherapy and rehabilitation certificate. His areas of research interest are (knee) injury risk reduction, motor learning and movement variability. Daniel was previously a strength and conditioning coach in a private facility (PlusD Sports) in Solingen, Germany for seven years.
