A systematic review of tofacitinib in the treatment of adult patients with ankylosing spondylitis

This report is a systematic review of tofacitinib for the treatment of adult patients with ankylosing spondylitis. Tofacitinib is a Janus kinase inhibitor (JAKi), a type of anti-inflammatory rheumatic drug. It blocks the activity of Janus kinase enzymes (JAK1, JAK2, JAK3, TYK2) involved in the JAK-STAT pathway of inflammation and immune response.

The research question that this report answers is: in double-blind randomized controlled trials, does tofacitinib provide a therapeutic advantage compared to placebo or active comparators in the treatment of adult patients with ankylosing spondylitis?
